Macaria is a contemporary Mexican restaurant built around a personal story. The project is a tribute to a woman named Macaria, a member of the Maya culture who raised him and expressed her care through cooking. She was the grandmother of the restaurant’s owner, Iñigo Mantecon.
Her image and presence became the foundation of the restaurant’s identity, transforming the space not into a stylized interpretation, but into an extension of memory. The interior is built around this narrative. Handcrafted elements, natural materials, and warm-toned surfaces evoke the traditional Mexican environment, while the layout is inspired by the typology of a public square — open, social, and free of sharp corners.
Designers Phatthanakon Niamprasert and Warapon Pankhow of Mood Space Decor sought to recreate not simply a striking interior, but the image and cultural references that lived in the client’s memory.
We had a great experience working with Perelude Interior. The team demonstrated a strong understanding of architectural photography, especially in capturing spatial flow, lighting atmosphere, and material details.
The final images are well-balanced, with careful attention to composition and color harmony. The retouching enhances the space without losing its original character, which is essential for editorial and award submissions.
